ON MY MIND

Spring, the NFL Draft, Hockey and Hoops playoffs and the migration of some College football players to police blotters. A friend of  mine ,headed the security department at major college. He felt that a majority of his work, was baby sitting college athletes. (His daughter was also jilted by Quarterback, who went on to win a Super Bowl MVP)  My friend, felt that much of the damage done was cover the by the athletic department.
Granted some college players are bad seeds,. but not all of them. There are many terrific guys, involved in football. Wish more sports pages spent more time on sports news , and less crime reporting. Believe me not the only college kids to show on the blotter. Our athletes are held to a higher standard, I'm not say that's bad, I just not sure it's merited or needed. Thousand of young people have risked their lives for our freedom, be that Bill O'Reilly's or Michael Moore's., Damn heroic.

Mo Cheeks ,Portland Trailblazers Head Coach,  helping the girl, who forgot the words to the National Anthem ,was priceless.

Be ready, so much of the draft day buss is agent generated. Guy is better known, he can leverage public opinion, to get a few extra hundred thousand bucks,  team management.  Some agents have players skyrocket every season,

3 kids out all the kids at the combine, tested positive for marijuana. In my day, the 70's the percentage would have been much higher.

Minnesota Wild Hockey club, pulled off one great upset, beating Colorado.
And my 10 year old nephew still owes me a quarter. I'm a capitalist but it's hard to collected a quarter from 10 year old ,whose team just lost.

Some terrific draft sites out there, very tight and professional. Not a halve -reared deal like my Couch Scout.  My goal for 2003 draft is to have the top 100 guys, ranked as my top 100 guys, and to have every guy drafted in 2003 being listed on my site.  Missed by 3 or 4 in 2002.

Really like guys, who stick around college for 4 years or to finish a degree.
One is great atmosphere, two finish what you start, three it's amazing how much you would mature freshman to Senior year.  That's why I drag my feet not listing underclassman with the senior class,  until they declare.. Can't blame the kids for going for what amounts to winning a lotto, but still the college atmosphere is special. That's why I spent the better part of  13 years going to college. (Paid my own way, was working fulltime most of it)

So any interest on a "where are they now "section. Former players current lives after the bright lights have dimmed.  How come all the former players I know sell sporting goods.

LA , 50 million dollar later, a NFL standard stadium. Few million more, a NFL team.

I voted for Bush, after a great deal of bouncing back and forth, wasn't thrilled about going into Iraq,  but supported the troops 100 per cent,  Along the lines of supporting the troops,. don't you suppose the troops should make a livable wage.  Families on food stamps. we diluted the G.I. bill, their heroes, not monks who took a bow of poverty.

The draft tomorrow will the Jets boo the pick?

            Enough mindless drivel

My each day be better your best day ever.
